A relevant official from the National Development and Reform Commission stated that technological innovation and application are crucial supports for advancing carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. Currently, the implementation of advanced, applicable, green, and low-carbon technologies faces challenges such as high technology costs, substantial capital investment requirements, and insufficient supporting policies, making it urgently necessary to strengthen support and guidance. Implementing demonstration projects for cutting-edge green and low-carbon technologies is a key measure for fostering competitive advantages in the green and low-carbon industry.
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, August 22 (Reporters Yan Fujing and Chen Weiwei) — On the 22nd, the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments released the "Implementation Plan for Demonstration Projects of Advanced Green and Low-Carbon Technologies," proposing to launch a batch of projects that feature leading technological levels, remarkable emission reduction effects, synergistic benefits in pollution reduction and carbon reduction, and clear demonstration impacts.
The plan categorizes advanced green and low-carbon technologies into three major types: source-based carbon reduction, process-based carbon reduction, and end-of-pipe carbon capture. Under the source-based carbon reduction category, four key areas are identified: advanced demonstration projects for non-fossil energy sources, demonstration projects for clean and efficient development and utilization of fossil energy sources, advanced power grid and energy storage demonstrations, and green hydrogen-based carbon reduction demonstrations. Under the process-based carbon reduction category, in addition to identifying key technology categories in the industrial, building, and transportation sectors, two additional focus areas are proposed: synergistic pollution reduction and carbon reduction, and low-carbon (near-zero carbon) industrial parks. Under the end-of-pipe carbon capture category, three key areas are highlighted: large-scale CCUS demonstrations covering the entire process, advanced and efficient carbon dioxide capture demonstrations, and demonstrations of carbon dioxide resource utilization and carbon sequestration.
